How much does a wedding in Bulgaria cost
The average wedding budget in our country for about 100 guests ranges between 10,000 and 25,000 euros. If you dream of an elegant, luxurious, and unforgettable wedding, it's advisable to be prepared for a budget of 15,000 to over 50,000 euros. On the other hand, a modest wedding with about 50 guests can be organized with 5,000 – 8,000 euros if you choose more budget-friendly location and service options.
These sums may sound daunting at first glance, but they become much more manageable if you break them down into specific categories and priorities.
The basic rule: 40–50% for venue and catering
The largest portion of the wedding budget—usually between 40% and 50%—goes toward venue rental and catering (food and drinks). That’s why it makes sense to set aside your main reserve for these expenses.
The price of a cover charge (menu per person) in Bulgarian restaurants varies widely—from about 35–40 euros for a standard menu in a more affordable restaurant, to 100–150 euros per person in luxury locations with an extended menu. Besides the cover charge itself, be sure to plan for the following additional expenses, which many couples forget about:
- Overtime fee after a certain hour - usually around 180-200 euros per hour.
- Deposit or minimum consumption for location reservation — most often between 250 and 500 euros.
- Alcohol, if not included in the package—an additional 25–50 euros per person.
Tip: Always ask explicitly what the package price includes before signing a contract with the restaurant — this is the item where hidden costs are most easily concealed.
Photographer and videographer: 10–15% from the budget
Memories from the day are what last forever, so this is not the place for compromises. Full-day coverage by a photographer and videographer usually costs between 1,500 and 4,000 euros, with high-quality packages including a drone and professional film editing potentially costing over 2,500 euros for the video alone.

Cake, invitations, and miscellaneous expenses

- Invitations: between 1 and 7.50 euros each, depending on design and paper.
These smaller items are easily overlooked, but their total amount often accounts for 5–8% of the budget.
Wedding planner: about 10% of the budget

- Determine a total sum with your partner (and your parents, if they are financially involved) — this is the starting point for everything else.
